The switching of Peak-Season Hours & Off-Season Hours coincides with the daylight savings time change.

We are open 7 days a week. Rolling Hills Zoo is closed only 4 days each year: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

9 am - 4 pm

(November 3, 2024 - March 8, 2025)

Peak-Season Hours:
9 am - 5 pm

(March 9, 2025 - November 1, 2025)

Military Discount

Rolling Hills Zoo welcomes military personnel with a 15% admission discount Military ID required.

AAA Discount
RHZ welcomes AAA Members and honors them with a 10% discount with their AAA Member Card.

Tram Ride Schedule
Trams run daily Memorial Day (end of May) - Labor Day (beginning of September)

Labor Day - October 6th: Saturdays & Sundays Only

No Tram Service during the Winter.

Mid-March - Memorial Day: Saturdays & Sundays Only

• Private Tram rides are $7 per person. Minimum of 12 people.

• Golf Cart Tour is $12 per person, minimum of 3 people.

• Extended Trams are $10 per person, minimum of 12 people.

Private, Golf Cart & Extended Tours are available year-round (weather permitting), by reservation only, with 1 week advance notice. Make your reservations by contacting Danita at 785-827-9488 x115 or email danitab@rollinghillszoo.org.

ScooterPals are fuzzy and fun electric scooters that will make your Zoo adventure even more memorable while providing a fun way to travel through the Zoo. Stop by our admission booth to learn more and find your adorable fur-wheelin’ ride through the zoo.‍
$5 Starting Fee + $.35 Per Minute

Dog Kennels
Traveling with your dog? Rolling Hills Zoo offers kennel service for your dog, free of charge, in an air-conditioned area, while you visit the Zoo & Wildlife Museum.

Picnic Area
The picnic area offers covered seating for about 200 guests on a first-come, first-served basis. It is equipped with restrooms (not available during the off-season), soft drink vending machines, and small playground for young children. You are welcome to stake out a picnic shelter area for your group, however the shelter is still open to the general public until 5:00 p.m.

Rolling Hills Zoo is KultureCity® Sensory Inclusive™ Certified. This means all staff at Rolling Hills Zoo is accepting and inclusive of ALL people with sensory needs.

KultureCity Sensory Bags are available rent free at Rolling Hills Zoo for guests with sensory needs to use during their visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring snacks and a cooler with beverages into the Zoo?
You are welcome to bring snacks for the little ones and a cooler with beverages into the Zoo, but please no glass bottles for the safety of our guests an animals. If you're bringing a picnic lunch, we ask that you enjoy it in our Picnic Shelter located on the north end of the Zoo's parking lot.

Can I bring my dog into the Zoo?
If your dog is not licensed or trained as a service dog, they are not allowed into the Zoo or Museum for the health and safety of our animals. For the safety of your pet, we offer FREE dog kenneling during your visit to RHZ. Please do not leave your dog in the car or tied up outside during your visit.

Can I bring a wagon for my kids at the Zoo?
Yes, you can bring your own wagon for your kids to ride during your Zoo visit. If you do not have one, we have wagons available to rent for $10.

Do you rent electronic scooters or wheelchairs?
Yes, we do! Electronic scooters rent for $30 and wheelchairs rent or $10.

I would like to volunteer at the Zoo. What do I need to do?
You can check out all of our Volunteer Opportunities by going to our Volunteer Page and filling out an application there. Or, you may contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Kris Bell for more information at 785-827-9488 ext. 114

Are the trams running now?
Yes, trams run every Saturday and Sunday mid-March through Memorial Day. After Memorial Day, trams run every day through Labor Day Weekend. Tram bands are $5 per person and allows for you to ride all day and get on and off as many times as you'd like throughout the day!

Elephant's Trunk Gift Shop

Specializing in merchandise for wildlife and nature enthusiasts, guests will find a wide variety of unique gifts and souvenirs. Items include plush animals, jewelry, educational toys, t-shirts, fair-trade items and much more! 

The Elephant's Trunk Gift Shop, located in the Wildlife Museum, is open year-round during regular Zoo & Museum hours.

Forgot to pick something up on your last visit? Contact the Gift Shop at 785-827-9488, and we can ship it to you! No visit to Rolling Hills Zoo would be complete without a stop at our awesome gift shop!

Overlook Restaurant

PLEASE NOTE: Our Overlook Restaurant is closed Mondays & Tuesdays during our off-season hours!

Take a break from your zoo adventure and refuel at our Overlook Restaurant!

Our Menu has something for everyone, with favorites like burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and chicken nuggets or strips. Plus, we offer handmade chips, crispy fries, tots, and savory cheese curds for the perfect side.

During the winter months, enjoy our seasonal soup and sandwich options - perfect for a cozy meal.

For dessert, indulge in a sweet treat with ice cream from Lindsborg's beloved homemade ice cream shop, Indigo Moo'd.

Our restaurant has room for up to 40 guests indoors and an outdoor patio that seats up to 200, all available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Whether you're craving a hearty meal or a quick snack, Overlook Restaurant is the perfect stop during your zoo day.
